How not to get lost in translation when you buy TV sets?

TVNeedless to say, that all of us when choosing to buy the TV of our dreams have a more or less clear idea about what features it should have. Words such as big, shiny, crystal-clear, high definition come into mind with amazing pictures of something that we have seen in Harvey Norman’s most expensive Electronics section. We imagine the pleasure of ditching our old bulky ‘box’ that once was called the breakthrough technology by our grandmas and grandpas. It is all great and amazing, however, with the current choice available in the Australian market when you go to buy TVs, one can easily get lost even when presented with just a few additional features and products. No wonder, as TV today represents something much more technologically complex and hi-tech than even a year ago. Another area of concern is the price which can get very uncomfortable. But please do not be daunted as there are several tips we can give you to help you buy the TV of your dreams and not go bankrupt at the same time.

Since technology is developing so quickly, when you buy TVs, buying a slightly older model than last month release will help you to save money. It will have most of the amazing features of the newest flat screen TV and  be very similar in quality. If you look around for last years clearance models, it would not be hard to find one for less than $999. Don’t forget about Bing Lee where you can also easily buy a TV at a negotiable price and beat the price down dependent on your negotiation skills.

It is amazing how marketing can play tricks with you as well. Whenever you walk into electronics section, it is a very big corner with very high ceilings – no wonder the TV of your dreams looks so much smaller when comparing to all the other bigger, slimmer, glossier versions. When you bring your ‘baby’ back home, it will have much higher impact on you visually and will definitely look much bigger than you anticipated it in the shop. You do not want your TV to intimidate guests when they arrive!

When you buy TV also consider how economical it is from an electricity perspective.

When the sales person tries to push you to buy the more expensive versions and uses all those smart jargony words, do not panic. The main thing you need to know is what type of broadcast signal it uses. Consider if you want to buy a HDTVas there are currently some channels that already broadcast it.  You will have a choice between HD Ready and Full HD.
